HP and Dell always have high-quality performance laptops.
But, Which Laptop Brand Is Best For Your Needs?
Dell and HP use different components to build these notebooks so they perform slightly differently.
A few of the most iconic laptops of the modern century were created by the HP Envy vs Dell Inspiron laptop series.
When compared with desktops, laptops come with various benefits.
The following are some important considerations for buying laptops:
- Intel core i7 or equivalent central processing unit (CPU)
- 8-12 GB of system memory (RAM)
- Backlit keyboard
- 15.6 inches or larger LED display
- Long Battery Life
- Dedicated graphics card
HP Envy vs Dell Inspiron
In 1981, the first laptop was created with only 514 floppy drivers, a five-inch screen, and a collection of software and hardware.
Floppy discs, on the other hand, are no longer used and have been replaced by HDDs and SSDs, which can store much more data and are much faster.
One of these laptops is actually the most outstanding, which was a pleasant surprise.

According to the Statista Global Consumer Survey, 24 percent of Americans who live in a laptop-owning home have a MacBook.
This places Apple in third place, behind two other American brands, Dell (27%), and HP (35%).
In comparison, only 19% of people in the United Kingdom and 13% of people in Germany said their household had a MacBook.

HP Envy History
Being a rebranded HP Touchsmart, this computer line was announced on June 1st 2011.
It features the same metal casing as the Touchsmart, but with a traditional color scheme of black and silver.
Like its predecessor, it is primarily a media-oriented PC, sharing the same 1080p Full HD 24-inch all-in-one touchscreen edge to edge display and Beats Audio.
The Envy line has been criticized by many, due to the fact that it’s essentially just an IPS version of the hp Touchsmart.
It also features a Beats Audio logo on it which does not add any actual special audio enhancements, such as better sound quality or more functionality than other laptops.

Comparison of HP Envy vs Dell Inspiron
HP and Dell are making Envy laptops available that go up against virtually everything the manufacturers offer.
Dell Inspiron Vs Hp Envy Design
There is a very slight difference in thickness between these two laptops, it is negligible. These apparent similarities will make it difficult to choose one over the other.
However, if you were to look at them side by side,
The Envy is 11.9mm thick while the Inspiron measures 13mm, but when you compare their overall footprints, things are quite different.
The Envy has a larger footprint, although it has a smaller screen:
The Envy is a slightly thinner frame around the display eliminating the need for black borders above and below the existing display size.
Let’s take a look at the front view. Both of these notebooks have coated in a soft-touch finish, which is quite comfortable and makes for an elegant design on both notebooks.
The Envy features slightly more ruffles around its edges to give it that little extra flair over the Inspiron. These are subtle differences that will not be noticed by everyone.
Display Of Hp Envy Vs Dell Inspiron Laptop

The displays are both 13.3″ but there is one big difference between their resolution.
The Envy has a 1080p display while the Inspiron only sports a 720p panel, which is noticeable when you look at these high definition pictures of the side of the notebook by side.
The pixels are apparent when you look at the Inspiron. However, it is still a decent enough HD display.
The Envy definitely has the upper hand here because it gives users an even sharper picture.
If you were to display these two notebooks next to each other, you would immediately notice this difference in sharpness.
Also remember that 1080p displays allow you to look at multimedia content with more detail, such as 1080p videos and HD images.
Dell Inspiron Or Hp Envy Keyboard
Both of these notebooks have the same island-style keyboard layout which we love because it provides plenty of spacing between keys that prevent them from jamming or misfiring during intense typing sessions.
Although they are both near identical in size, the Envy has a larger palm rest area. Both keyboards have an excellent tactile response and feature backlighting for late-night typing sessions.
The keys are deeper than standard notebooks, which makes them even more enjoyable to type on.
Hp Envy Vs Dell Inspiron Touchpad

The touchpads of these two notebooks are also very similar because they feature the same design.
The touchpads are both made of a smooth woodgrain-like textured plastic, which I absolutely love because it not only feels great under your fingers but looks good too.
However, there is one difference between these two touchpads that makes them incompatible with each other: the addition of buttons on the Envy.
The Inspiron has the standard clickable touchpad design while the Envy features two physical buttons.
Personally, I am not a fan of this style because it does take some getting used to and can be quite frustrating at first, but after using both touchpads for an extended period of time it becomes second nature.
Also, there is a difference in size between the two touchpads. The Envy is slightly larger than the Inspiron, but both do a good job at recognizing multitouch enabled gestures.
The Inspiron has a nice touchpad as well with a full grip for your thumb and larger left and right-clicks buttons, but the responsiveness is not as good as the Envy.
Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get the cursor or multi-touch gestures to work correctly with this touchpad which can be very frustrating.
Both notebooks feature decent keyboards that are made of metal (aluminum).
The keyboard’s layout is great because the keys are well spaced and provide tactile feedback when pressed.
The touchpads on each notebook feature a smooth glass feel that makes them comfortable to use for extended periods of time without your fingers getting fatigued.
Dell Inspiron Vs Hp Envy Laptops Ports And Features
Everyone has their preferences when it comes to notebook port layout and quantity, but there are some things that Lenovo and HP got right on these notebooks that benefit the user.
The first thing I want to mention is that both of these notebooks feature a good selection of ports for their size, especially the Envy which sports two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, LAN port, VGA out, and an SD media card reader.
The Inspiron does not have any USB 3.0 ports but it does have three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI out, LAN port, and an SD card reader.
Although the Envy has better connections for future external devices, both notebooks offer great connectivity options that will be sufficient for most consumers.
Inspiron Vs Envy Speakers

Both of these notebooks have speakers located on the bottom of the chassis, but this is where all similarities end.
The Envy has four speakers that deliver incredible audio quality with crisp highs and booming lows. This makes listening to music or watching movies a true pleasure on this notebook.
The Inspiron only has dual speakers, but they are still pretty good for a notebook.
The sound is clear enough to listen to music and watch movies without any problems, although the bass is noticeably lacking compared to the Envy.
Best Dell And Hp Laptops Battery Life
When it comes to battery life these notebooks are similar in performance, Both of these notebooks are extremely thin and lightweight, but the Envy manages to provide more battery life.
It features a 6-cell 56Whr(Watt Hour) battery that provides around 5 hours of use with the standard settings configured.
The Inspiron has a bigger 8-cell 76Whr battery which provides an average of 8 hours of use with the standard settings configured.
Although the Envy has more battery life, both provide enough juice to get you through a day or so of work on a single charge.
The Envy features one of my favorite notebook designs for its touchpad, but in this case, I think Lenovo placed too much emphasis on aesthetics and not enough on usability.
I loved the design of this touchpad at first, but after using it for an extended period of time it became more difficult to use with one hand because there is no grip for your thumb and very small left and right-click buttons.
Dell Inspiron Vs Hp Envy Performance And Benchmarks
The HP Envy features the new Intel Core i5-2467M processor which is a dual-core CPU running at 1.6GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.3GHz and has 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed (1333MHz).
The Envy also has a 128GB SSD for its primary drive which delivers faster boot times and application startup compared to a regular 5400rpm notebook hard drive.
The Inspiron features the older Intel intel turbo boost technology Core i5-2410M processor which is a dual-core CPU running at 2.3GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz and has 6GB of DDR3 RAM installed (1333MHz).
The Inspiron is one of the only notebooks in its class that has such a large amount of RAM, which will come in handy when multitasking or running intensive applications like virtual machines and Adobe Photoshop.
Hp Envy Vs Dell Inspiron Processors/CPU
Intel’s new line of core processors is much more power-efficient which translates into longer battery life.
The Envy uses the Intel i5-2467M processor with a TDP rating of 17W compared to the older i5-2410M at 35W.
This means it takes less energy for the Envy to the operating system which in turn extends the battery life.
Storage Drives/SSD Of dell Inspiron Or Hp Envy
Both notebooks use solid-state drives for more storage, but the Envy uses a 128GB SSD compared to the 500GB 5400rpm hard drive found in the Inspiron.
This provides much better performance when booting up the notebook and launching applications because data transfers at speeds up to 500MB/s.
Dell Inc. Inspiron 15 – 20 is improved by its faster processors. HP ENVY X360 2-in-1 13′′ is lighter.
There are different kinds of memory storage. Inspiron has 512GB HardDisk while the Envy X 360 has 200GB of storage.
As a result, the comparative analysis is both are lighter.
Graphics Performance Of laptop Dell Vs Laptop Hp

The Envy features Intel’s HD3000 integrated graphics which perform much better than the Inspiron’s Intel HD2000 IGP, but you can still play most modern games with acceptable frame rates on low to medium settings.
On the Inspiron the only game I could get to run smoothly was Minecraft, which is not surprising because it’s a Java-based game.
The Envy uses the new Intel HD3000 IGP that includes more execution units (12 vs 4 in previous generations) and delivers fast performance than last generation’s Intel HD amd radeon graphics.
The Envy scored 8,543 in 3DMark06 which is higher than the Inspiron’s score of 6,391 with Intel HD2000 IGP.
If you are looking for a notebook that can play games then the Envy is the better option, but if gaming isn’t important to you then there isn’t much difference in graphics performance.
